Shopify orders in the MacBook notch

Orders are the count of orders placed in the window, and it is the denominator for everything else on this page.

What is counted

Orders created in the window, bucketed by creation time. Cancelled orders are included, because an order that was placed and then cancelled is a thing that happened, and excluding it would make a bad day look like an ordinary one. Draft orders are not counted until they are completed.

Test orders made through Shopify's bogus gateway are counted too. If your staging work runs against the live store, that is where an unexplained bump comes from.

Orders against sales

Sales divided by orders is average order value, which has its own widget. Place all three in the notch and they explain each other: sales climbing on flat orders is a basket getting bigger, and sales climbing on flat average order value is simply more customers.

What Shopify orders means, exactly

Orders placed in the window that took payment. Test orders and abandoned or unpaid checkouts are excluded, so this sits below the Shopify admin's own order count when the store has pending orders.

A whole number.

How is Shopify orders calculated?
Orders placed in the window that took payment. Test orders and abandoned or unpaid checkouts are excluded, so this sits below the Shopify admin's own order count when the store has pending orders. Notch Metrics reports that number, unchanged, in the MacBook notch.

Yes. Shopify orders is bucketed hourly, daily, weekly and monthly, so the widget carries a sparkline alongside the headline figure, and a comparison against the previous window.
What unit is Shopify orders in?
A whole number.
What does it cost to put Shopify orders in the notch?
$9 a month, or $49 a year, with every connector included and no per-integration charge. The seven-day trial needs no card, so you can see your own orders before deciding.
