Amplitude in the MacBook notch
Active users and events from Amplitude.
Beta
This connector is in beta. It connects and returns numbers; the edges are still being worked on.
The 3 numbers Notch Metrics reads from Amplitude
- Active usersdaily, weekly and monthly · sparklineUsers who did anything in the window, which Amplitude calls "Any Active Event". The headline is Amplitude's own de-duplicated figure for the whole window, so the bars do not add up to it: one person active on three days is one user and three bars. Days are your Amplitude project's timezone, so the figures match its own charts.
- New usersdaily, weekly and monthly · sparklineUsers whose first ever event Amplitude recorded in the window. A user is new on exactly one day, so these bars do add up to the headline. Days are your Amplitude project's timezone, so the figures match its own charts.
- Eventsdaily, weekly and monthly · sparklineEvery event recorded in the window, of every type, which Amplitude calls "Any Event". Days are your Amplitude project's timezone, so the figures match its own charts.
Connecting Amplitude, once, on the web
Paste a key on the web, once.
- API key
- Settings → Projects → your project → General. Both keys are per project.
- Secret key
- Beside the API key. Amplitude signs Dashboard API requests with the pair.
- Data residency
- An EU project's keys answer 401 on the US host, exactly like a wrong key.
Your Amplitude credential is encrypted with its own key, bound to your account and the provider. Our server calls Amplitude and hands your Mac a normalised number, so the Mac app never holds the credential. Remove the integration and the encrypted key is deleted with it.

Questions
- What Amplitude numbers can Notch Metrics show?
- Notch Metrics reports 3 Amplitude numbers: active users, new users and events. Each one is a widget you place in the MacBook notch, sized from a single square up to the full width.
- How do you connect Amplitude to Notch Metrics?
- Sign in to notchmetrics.com, choose Amplitude and paste your key. Settings → Projects → your project → General. Both keys are per project.
- Does the Notch Metrics Mac app hold my Amplitude key?
- No. Our server calls Amplitude and hands your Mac a normalised number. Your Amplitude credential is encrypted with its own key, bound to your account and the provider, so a row copied anywhere else does not decrypt.
- What does Amplitude in the notch cost?
- Every connector is included, with no per-integration charge. Notch Metrics is $9 a month or $49 a year, after a seven-day trial that needs no card. Amplitude counts as one of the connectors on every plan.
- Is the Amplitude connector ready to use?
- Amplitude is in beta. It connects, and it returns active users, new users and events. Beta here means the edges are still being worked on, not that the numbers are unavailable.
