Polar churned subscriptions in the MacBook notch
Churned subscriptions are Polar subscriptions that ended in the window, bucketed by the date they ended.
What Polar calls an end
A Polar subscription ends when it is revoked or when it is cancelled and the current period runs out. The widget counts the subscription at that point, not at the moment the customer pressed cancel, so a yearly plan cancelled in January is counted the following January.
Trials that end without converting are not subscriptions ending. They never started paying, so they belong to the trial funnel rather than to churn, and counting them here would make a healthy top of funnel look like a leak.
Placing it
Put this beside the new subscriptions widget and read them as a pair. The difference is net movement, which is the number that decides whether MRR goes up. Neither figure alone tells you which direction the business is going.
